I watched 2 other films from Sembene but THIS is the MASTERPIECE!!

I get choked up at the first minutes of the film now. For those of you who have not seen the last film of the father of African cinema, Ousmane Sembene's Moolaade 2004 YOU MUST!

Just before the explosive arrival of Makode Linde and his golliwog-Venus of Willendorf cake, we saw this riveting film about a small village in Burkino Faso and their growing conflict about Female Genital Mutilation. The things we have to be grateful for are the memories. Adam Yauch was a quiet and humble man, a true Buddhist. He didn't waste words. He was a consummate artist. Thank you Adam, for the legacy that yourself, Ad-Rock and Mike-D have bestowed upon us.

In 1985 "Disco Donut" played a cover tune, "Runaway Love" with a line up of Jenn Vix on BV's, Phil Painson on drums, David Strahan on guitar, Adam Horovitz on bass and myself singing lead. One time line up for Haoui Montaug's No Entiendes.

I ran into Haoui Montaug at NatWest bank and he told me the Beasties want me to call them in LA, to do a project in which I would sing. I was so intimidated by their success I couldn't call. Sorry guys! No diss intended. And thank you Haoui for passing on your message, you were already ill, working till the end.

Beasties asked me how you do "the Penguin"(dance). I showed them, just like my dad would have shown me "the Madison". I think "the Funky Broadway" was my generation's to own.

Russell Simmons cruised around Danceteria with a clipboard, lol! Rick Rubin was extremely shy and quiet, (the original NYC Buddhist??). Along with Ad-Rock we watched "the Birthday Party", BLOWN AWAY!!

Mike-D, Grand Royal's A & R, along side Russell Simmons, drummer of JSBE. Stereolab, very happy!
